Construction of 60 apartments at the former Canning aquatic centre site will start next year.

The medium density residential building would form stage one of the four-stage project that would transform Bentley.

When complete it would offer 400 apartments including student accommodation, a 2000-square metre community learning centre, 4000 square metres of retail/commercial space and a park.

The City of Canning has approved the sale of the former Canning aquatic centre site in Bentley to Sunshine developments WA.

Former City of Canning commissioner Steven Cole said the city was pleased to announce the important milestone of the Bentley regeneration project.
