Oz Urban Radio, which was launched almost two years ago, has steadily grown and follows a ‘more music, less talk,’ policy.
The low power open narrowcast license on 87.8FM targets a number of suburbs in the south including Southern River, Seville Grove, Champion Lakes, Canning Vale, Jandakot Piara Waters, Seville Grove, Forrestdale and Harrisdale.
Station manager Brett Costello said he has worked in community and commercial radio for a number of years.
“It’s all about the music at Oz Urban Radio,” he said.
“We have what you would call a music intensive format.”
Mr Costello said the radio station specialises in urban, RnB and hip-hop.
“The signal Oz Urban uses can be heard really well within Piara waters and local surrounds,” he said.
“It can be heard from a greater distance on a car radio.”
However, Mr Costello said the signal may not be strong enough to penetrate homes at great distances but with today’s technology the broadcaster could be found anywhere on the website.
“We just want people in the area to give us a go,” he said.
Oz Urban Radio plays shows from all over the globe including Nino Brown’s Digital Dope show from Sydney, DJ C’s Jammin show from Melbourne and shows from Perth.
