The Perth Kilt Run attracts hundreds of competitors each year.

Registrations have opened for the City of Armadale’s annual Perth Kilt Run which will take place on September 10.

Held as part of the Highland Gathering at Minnawarra Park the run attracts thousands of people to the heart of Armadale every year with many donning a kilt for a 2.5-kilometre or 5-kilometre run around the city centre.

Armadale mayor Henry Zelones said the event was a big draw card.

“Perth Kilt Run offers fun for the whole family suitable for every fitness level,” he said.

“We expect a growing number of residents to enjoy time in a kilt for this year’s run.

“Proceeds from the registration fees go to local charities the Amanda Young Foundation and the Intensive Care Foundation, which is another reason to be involved in this year’s event.”

The Armadale Highland Gathering will be held on the same day and will feature a medieval fair, a Scottish clan village, a meet and greet with Scottish dogs and heavy events with strongmen.

The city will host a Couch to Kilt event in the lead up to the Kilt Run due to start on August 6 with sessions every Sunday from 8am to 9am for five weeks.
