Guides raise hundreds for charity

Armadale Active Girl Guides have used their baking talents to raise money for cancer research and sick kids.

When asked what they wanted to do for a service project in term three, Armadale Active Girl Guides chose to run a bake sale and raise funds for a charity of their choice.

This group of 10 to 14-year-olds held an animated discussion and settled on giving donations to Cancer Council WA and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The three patrols (small groups of six girls) decided what they would make – sweet or savoury food, how they would advertise and what prices to put on their products.

Last week, family and friends came to support each of their stalls and it was a very festive atmosphere as they almost sold out of their items.

The amount raised exceeded $550 for their one-hour sale and everyone was so proud of themselves.

With some extra donated funds, they will send $300 to each of the chosen charities.
