The Gosnells Hawks qualified two teams for next Saturday’s WAAFL C2 Division Grand Finals but the reserves failed narrowly to join the league and colts in the big game.

The reserves went down by a solitary behind after having several chances to snatch victory late in the game.

Members thought that this team would break a long premiership drought but this was not to be the case.

Coach Steve Davis was disappointed with the result but proud of his team with the final scores reading Warnbro Swans 7.3 (45) Gosnells 6.8 (44).

The colts continue to show improvement under coach Paul Clements and assistant coach Jeff Stephens and will give undefeated Canning Vale an interesting contest.

The Hawks recorded a 10-point victory over High Wycombe last Saturday in the preliminary final.

Final scores were Gosnells 5.12 (42) High Wycombe 4.8 (32) and the best for the Hawks were Ben Pate, Tim Hale, Eric Mitchell, Travis Sansom and Bryce Ugle.

The league team undefeated has the chance to become only the third team in the club’s 107-year history to go through the season without losing a game.

Head coach Corey Bertram will be able to select a strong team with all players being available.

Both Grand Finals will be played at Claremont Oval on September 9 with the colts starting at 10 am and the league at 2.30 pm.
