This weekend is the Highland Gathering and Perth Kilt Run, to be held in Armadale.

The run will be held on Sunday, October 3, as part of the City of Armadale’s Highland Gathering, which celebrates Scottish heritage and is the only Australian charity run done in a kilt.

Participants are encouraged to paint their face blue and take part in the run, choosing between the 2.5km classic or the 5km warrior.

The event is held annually and is a great pride for the community of Armadale, attracting large crowds from across the greater Perth region.

Following the run will be Scottish market stalls, highland dancing, pipe band competitions, meet and greet Scottish dogs, watch events that test strength and power, and taste traditional Scottish delights such as haggis while watching Ceilidh dancing.

Some of the proceeds go towards supporting charities including headspace Armadale, The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Foundation, and The Amanda Young Foundation.

Registrations for this year’s Perth Kilt Run are now open at perthkiltrun.com.au. Register online before noon on Sunday October 3 to save on the event day price.
