Paul Mansfield, representing the WA Liberals, has called for immediate transparency and action on the abstraction of local groundwater reserves in Karragullen, Martin, and Bedfordale.

“The WA Liberals fundamentally oppose any unsustainable water abstraction that harms local communities and growers,” Mr. Mansfield said. “Water is a precious resource, and its management must prioritise the needs of local residents and orchardists who depend on it.”

Following a community forum in the Roleystone Hills attended by over 50 residents, Mr Mansfield said it became evident that transparency and a review of outdated contracts are top priorities for the community.

Paul Mansfield called on the Cook Labor Government to release all available data on water extraction in the Roleystone hills and to commission an independent study assessing its sustainability. He has also urged the review of decades-old contracts to ensure they reflect the needs of the community today.

“A WA Liberal Government will ensure transparency, commission an independent study, and review outdated contracts to protect the community’s water resources,” Mr. Mansfield said. “This is about standing up for local residents and ensuring sustainable water management for the future.”
