A 23-year-old man from Ellenbrook has been charged over an alleged indecent assault at a shopping centre in East Victoria Park last month.

Kensington Police say the man approached a woman in her 20s, who was unknown to him, on Friday, March 21, 2025 and indecently assaulted her inside the centre.

Following a public appeal through Crime Stoppers, several members of the public came forward with information.

With help from the shopping centre’s security team, police were able to identify the man.

He was located on Tuesday, April 1 at a public reserve in East Victoria Park.

Further inquiries revealed he was also wanted for questioning over other serious incidents, including an alleged assault on a service station staff member in Northbridge just a day before the shopping centre incident. In that case, he is accused of spraying aerosol into the victim’s face.

Police arrested the man after a brief stand-off, following reports he had earlier been seen with a knife.

He has since been charged with six offences, including unlawful and indecent assault, unlawful wounding, being armed in a way that may cause fear, stealing, disorderly behaviour in public, and trespass.

The man was refused bail and remanded in custody. He appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court last week Friday.
