There will be plenty of entertainment at this year's Muddy Hands Festival, featuring live performances, nature activities, and more.

The City of Canning is inviting families and kids to enjoy a day of free fun at this year’s Muddy Hands Festival, happening on Saturday, November 23, from 10 am to 3 pm at Kent Street Weir in Wilson.

Kids of all ages are invited to this year’s free, non-ticketed event, which will feature plenty of muddy experiences, including two mud pits, one for the big kids and one for the littlies, as well as the ‘Mudster Chef’ kitchens.

For those who prefer not to get involved in the muddy action, there will still be lots to enjoy, including nature stalls, nature crafts, and entertaining stage performances from Captain Cleanup, the Eco Faeries, Ranger Reds Zoo, Eco Action, and more.

City of Canning Mayor Patrick Hall said the festival is one of his favourite events on the City’s calendar, and he’s looking forward to getting his hands dirty alongside the community this year.

“Muddy Hands provides a safe and inclusive space for our greatly diverse range of families in Canning, allowing them to come together and enjoy a fun day out whilst gaining a greater appreciation of our natural environment,” Mayor Hall said.

“Last year’s event was a huge success with around 3000 attendees; this year, we are hoping to see even more of the community enjoying the muddy fun.

The fun is not limited to the kids; adults are welcome to get involved in the mud activities with their kids, but make sure you bring a change of clothes as things will get muddy.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic rug and their own food, though food trucks and the Canning River Café will also be offering food and refreshments for purchase.

With limited parking available, visitors are also encouraged to carpool or use public transport.

In an effort to be low-waste, the smoke-free event will feature reusable serveware, and guests are encouraged to bring their own drink bottles and coffee cups.
