Nominations for the 2025 City of Gosnells Neighbour of the Year Award are now open.
The award celebrates and recognises those in our community who dedicate their time to help and support their neighbours and contribute to their neighbourhood.
Mayor Terresa Lynes is calling on residents to celebrate the unsung heroes within our community.
“This award provides the opportunity to publicly recognise and celebrate the good deeds of someone who goes above and beyond to make their neighbourhood a great place to live,” Mayor Lynes said.
“Having supportive, kind and caring people around you helps to create a cohesive, safe and friendly neighbourhood.
“We are looking for Neighbour of the Year nominees who show a sense of pride in their local neighbourhood and are proactive in bringing their neighbours together to create social connections and show a willingness to help others and build supportive relationships.”
The City’s 2024 Neighbour of the Year Award was presented to 23-year-old Kash Ahearn earlier this year.
Mr Ahearn was nominated for caring for neighbours during tough times by tending their gardens, sharing produce from his vegetable patch, offering home-baked goodies, checking in on those with distant families, and lending a listening ear when needed.
All nominees for Neighbour of the Year, along with those who nominated them, will be invited to a special morning tea hosted by the City.
The winner will be announced in the week leading up to Neighbour Day, which is on Sunday, March 30 2025.
Nominations will close on Monday, February 3. For more information or to nominate someone, complete the form online at gosnells.wa.gov.au.
