In week 6, the Year 5 and 6 students at South Thornlie Primary School attended a “History of Telephones” lesson as part of their HASS curriculum.

During the lesson the students learnt about communicating in the “olden days” before electricity, Morse electrical telegraph, “Landline” telephones, “Mobile” phones, The internet, WWW and NBN.

John Paskulich, from the West Australian Historic Telecommunications Society, displayed a fantastic collection of olden day phones and educated the students about his unique display.

John’s collection consists of phones from across the 19th and 20th Centuries ranging up to a dozen or so items.

The children got to be hands on with the samples of phones on display and had lots of fun engaging in this lesson.
