Newly elected Member for Thornlie Colleen Egan is keen to support those who need a voice in the halls of power.

It was a sea of red as Labor secured its third term in Government in a landslide last Saturday, and contributing to the result were the Labor winners in the seats of Cannington, Thornlie, Riverton and Southern River.

Newly elected Member for Thornlie Colleen Egan thanked the electorate and volunteers for their support.

“At the polling booths I was overwhelmed by the many people who shook my hand, wished me well, gave me winks and nods, and told me how much they wanted WA Labor to keep delivering for the community,” she said.

“I’ve listened to all of the comments and suggestions and I’m looking forward to working hard for the next four years. I’m incredibly humbled by the voters’ trust and support, and feel inspired to fight for Thornlie, Gosnells, Maddington, Martin and Orange Grove every day. I hope I can do you all proud and always act in the best interests of democracy and the public, particularly those who need a voice in the halls of power.”

Also grateful, incumbent winner for the seat of Southern River Terry Healy. “To my community in Canning Vale, Gosnells, Huntingdale and Southern River, I am humbled and honoured to have the opportunity to serve again as your Member for Southern River,” he said.

“Thank you to each and every single volunteer and community member. We will never take your support for granted and we will keep working hard for you and your family every day.”

Member for Cannington-elect Ron Sao, who replaced long-serving Bill Johnston, said it was an honour and a privilege to be elected.

“I’m humbled by the support of the community and appreciate the trust that so many people have placed in us. Door knocking during the campaign, I got an opportunity to speak to so many wonderful people. I want our community to remain a great option for families to live in. I want it to continue to grow and thrive in a way that supports the community’s diverse needs. I’ll be working to deliver on my commitments and improve local services like education, health and cost of living measures that our community deserves. I take nothing for granted and I will work hard to be an effective local member.”

Member for Riverton Dr Jags Krishnan was re-elected and looks forward to delivering on his election commitments.

Former Deputy Mayor of the City of Canning Amanda Spencer-Teo was unsuccessful in her bid to win the seat of Riverton.
