The Riverton Leisureplex is set to receive a much-needed upgrade, with a brand-new Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system scheduled for installation in its northern wing starting this June.
The update will focus on the Bill Cole Function Centre, the FITT Factory, and the main foyer area; spaces that have long struggled with temperature control and ventilation. According to the City of Canning, the current HVAC system has reached the end of its life, and customer feedback made it clear that an upgrade was overdue.
“We’ve heard how much the current HVAC has impacted your comfort and safety,” the City stated. “This temporary pain will be a long-term gain.”
To minimise disruption, the project will be carried out in stages. Existing group fitness classes and meeting room bookings will be relocated where possible.
The City’s Bookings and Fitness Teams are working to arrange suitable alternatives, and affected customers will be contacted directly. The café, too, may see temporary changes, with updates to be provided soon.
While the Bill Cole toilets will be unavailable during construction, alternate facilities will be accessible via the gym hallway and pool areas. Internal access to Revive Physiotherapy and Meeting Room 5 will also be impacted, with users needing to enter via external entrances.
The gym, creche, and swimming pool halls will remain open throughout the renovations.
Customers wishing to suspend or cancel their memberships can do so either online or by contacting the Leisureplex team directly.
