CEO Joanne Abbiss, Liberal candidate for Darling Range Paul Mansfield, Opposition Leader Libby Mettam, and Ruth Butterfield are all keen to see the long-held ARRR dream finally become reality.

The City of Armadale has shored up its state funding prospects for one of its big-ticket advocacy priorities – the Armadale Regional and Recreation Reserve (ARRR).

The ARRR is a proposed multi-stage development set to be the future regional facility for local sporting and community clubs to service the growing population of Armadale and Perth’s metropolitan South East corridor.

Last month WA Labor announced they’d throw $20 million into the hat for the $48.8 million Stage 1A of the project.

And in another significant milestone, the WA Liberal Party leader Libby Mettam has just committed to match that funding, if they are elected in March.

“We have been tirelessly advocating for this project, and we are extremely pleased that the WA Liberal Party have committed to $20M funding toward Stage 1A of the ARRR, if elected,” Mayor Ruth Butterfield said.

“The ARRR is an essential project that will serve our rapidly growing population and provide the much-needed facilities for kids that are currently missing out on playing netball and basketball.

“By building the ARRR Stage 1A, we will be making a positive impact on current and future generations.

“We are dependent on a matching financial contribution from the Federal Government to make the ARRR Stage 1A a reality.

“The city will continue to advocate for support from the federal government, recognising that outer metropolitan growth areas like ours, are only able to provide regional facilities when all levels of government work together.”
