‘Golden Girls’ Hannah, Deanna and Georgie are all State Champions.

Local athletes have dominated at this year’s Masters State Championships.

Over the past fortnight, athletes from the Run and Become Athletic Club, who train at the Bill Hicks Reserve in Byford, have won over 40 medals in total, including 24 gold.

After this year’s success, the Run and Become Squad now boasts seven Masters State Champions: Jennifer Parker, Hannah Gethin, Deanna Drabsch, Georgie Smith, Darren Robertson, Michelle Hunter and coach Keith Redpath.

A special mention goes to novice athletes Anita Etridge and Brenda Almstrom who won two silver medals each.

And also, to Jennifer Parker who was crowned State Champion twelve times over and also snuck in two silver medals to go along with her gold swag.

The club’s older athletes are clearly an inspiration to the younger athletes in the club who are already establishing their own track-record of success.
