The Canning Vale Senior Football Club has returned for training sessions and they are now looking forward to commencing the competition when the time finally comes.
With the announcement of the Western Australian government’s coronavirus (COVID-19) road map, the WA Football Commission has provided return training protocols for all football in WA, including the Perth Football League clubs.
Following this announcement, the Canning Vale Senior Football Club was ready to put on their footy shoes and get back to training while following some very strict guidelines.
President Scott Branch said the club has also developed a COVID-19 Safety Plan to ensure everyone involved in the club understands the safety measures and the obligations surrounding hygiene and social distancing.
“Our coaching group and players are returning to community football with a positive attitude to work hard and play hard,” he said.
“Initially our training sessions are divided into groups of 20, inclusive of coaches, with no more than three groups at the ground at one time and separated into zones.
“We will be focussing on fitness and ball work, as guidelines do not permit contact and other training aids at this stage.”
Although the club has been hit hard financially, Mr Branch said the club is determined to continue delivering its valuable services to increase physical activity and engagement for the community.
“Increased physical activity leads to better health outcomes for the community and helps the government reduce or redirect health funding to where it is needed,” he said.
“We are also looking forward to a number of exciting firsts for the club once the competition recommences, including the inaugural season for the women’s team, our elevation to C1 and celebrating our tenth anniversary season.
“However, I know the players, coaches and volunteers are all eager to catch up and reconnect after COVID-19 pulled the rug out from under them earlier this year.”
Trainings days at Clifton Park kicked off on Monday evening, with the women’s and the colt’s team now training on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6.30pm and the senior men’s team training on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm onwards.
