A three-car pileup fuelled traffic chaos on Albany Highway near the Davis Road intersection in Kelmscott this afternoon.

A white Toyota Camry ran into a white Ford Falcon and silver Mitsubishi Magna at about 12.30pm.

Firefighters were forced to shut both southbound lanes on Albany Highway while they worked to clean up a fuel leak from the Falcon.

Traffic was being diverted through a nearby carpark but still banked up for hundreds of metres.

Resident Dianne Busquets said she heard a long screech followed by a bang and she ran outside.

She said she had lived in the area for 40 years and crashes at the Davis Road, Fancote Street and Albany Highway intersections were a weekly occurrence.

“It happens so often, pretty well weekly,” she said.

“A lot of people turn at Davis to avoid going on Denny (Avenue) but they just aren’t alert.

“It’s about time they did something about it.”

Ms Busquets said they could build a roundabout or at least put a slip lane in for cars turning onto Fancote and Davis from Albany Highway.
