Two 17-year-old boys have been charged over their alleged involvement in an armed robbery in Kelmscott last week.

About 11.30am on April 11 police allege the pair entered Stargate Shopping Centre on Albany Highway where they stole a knife from Coles before approaching employees at the Busy Bee Lottery Kiosk.

It will be further alleged one of the boys spoke to a staff member whilst the other boy armed with the knife jumped the kiosk counter.

During this time an employee received a small cut to her hand. The boys then fled and were apprehended by police later that day.

A 17-year-old Brookdale boy was charged with attempted aggravated armed robbery and a 17-year-old Mount Richon boy was charged with attempted aggravated armed robbery and stealing.

They both appeared at the Perth Children’s Court on April 17.

Police said there was nothing to confirm that this incident is linked to a theft from Maddington Lottery Centre at Maddington Central on March 31.
