Yule Brook College in Maddington were one of the many schools across the country which took part in Science Week earlier this month.
Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology ran from August 14 to August 18 and featured more than 1000 events centred on the theme for this year Future Earth.
The theme aimed to help students explore and understand the role of technology, sustainability and urban planning in the future.
Yule Brook College teacher Celeste Mitchell said the school had dedicated an entire week to celebrate science and help students engage in different activities.
“It’s been great,” she said.
“Science Week has really brought everyone together and it’s been amazing.”
Ms Mitchell said the students made pledges to help make the earth a better place.
She also said they took part in activities like playing the bongos, having their hands bandaged by paramedics, listening to presentations on health and practising yoga and Pilates.
Year seven student Roquia Ramzami said she enjoyed everything about Science Week.
“I love it,” she said.
“I really enjoyed playing the bongos.”
Another year seven student David Lam said he loved learning different things during the week.
He said his favourite subjects were biology, chemistry and civics and one of his favourite parts about Science Week was having his hand bandaged by the paramedics.
