A Byford man in his 60s suffered serious burns when his house caught fire on Wednesday afternoon.
He was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital by ambulance.
The man’s neighbour John Sibly said he saw the flames, which he described as very high.
“The fire brigade from Oakford, Byford, Armadale and Roleystone came out,” he said.
“I also saw the police and the arson squad.
“The fire was put out in about 10 to 15 minutes.”
Mr Sibly said the man’s partner told him he had suffered burns to 60 per cent of his body.
“I hope he gets better,” he said.
Police said the blaze happened at approximately 5:30pm and are treating the fire as suspicious.
The man remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
