Missed enrolment cut-off? You can still vote

Western Australians, who are not yet on the electoral roll, may still be able to have their say at the 2025 State Election with new legislation allowing people to enrol and vote at a polling place.

People who missed last month’s deadline to get on the electoral roll, or who cannot be found on the electoral roll, can apply to enrol at a polling place and cast a declaration vote. Previously only electors on the electoral roll at the time of roll close were eligible to vote.

Those found to be eligible for enrolment will be added to the electoral roll and their vote will go into the count.

People seeking to apply to enrol and cast a vote at a polling place, should bring identification such as a Medicare card, passport, citizenship number or driver’s licence to complete their enrolment. People should allow extra time to complete the process.

WA Electoral Commissioner Robert Kennedy encourages eligible Western Australians to take advantage of this opportunity.

“Democracy is at its best when everyone participates,” Mr Kennedy said.

“Enrol-on-the day voting is the chance for eligible voters who may otherwise have missed out on voting, to have a say in shaping your community and future.”

Enrol-on-the-day voting is available at all polling places around WA, including early polling places.
