City of Canning residents are being urged to take advantage of significant rebates through the recently announced continuation of the council’s ‘Be Safe and Save’ Security Incentive Scheme, designed to support those seeking to improve their home security.
Now in its fifth year, the scheme aims to bolster community safety by offering partial refunds of up to $300 for various security improvements and up to $400 for those holding a valid Pensioner Concession, Healthcare, or WA Seniors Card.
CCTV, alarm systems, video doorbells, security screens, locks and sensor lights are among the items eligible for rebates under the program.
According to the council, the previous six rounds of the security incentive have driven over $1.47 million in community spending on home security enhancements within the City of Canning.
Canning Mayor Patrick Hall believes the program will further enhance the city’s security, highlighting its accessibility.
“Our residents deserve to feel safe in their homes. I strongly encourage all eligible residents to take advantage of this opportunity to help us prevent crime in the City of Canning by tightening their home security,” Hall said.
“Ensuring the safety and security of our residents is a top priority. This enhanced rebate scheme is designed to provide greater support to those looking to improve their home security. We aim to make the scheme accessible for everyone, especially our senior citizens and concession card holders.”
While the current round of the scheme is open until June 30, 2025, those looking to benefit are being encouraged to act promptly, as rebates are subject to availability, and funds may be exhausted before the closing date.
