Nazi symbols and the Nazi salute will be banned in Western Australia under new laws introduced into state parliament on Wednesday.
It will be a crime to publicly promote the regime, which is associated with antisemitism, genocide and racial hatred.
Offenders will face a fine of up to $24,000 or up to five years in jail.
Citizenship and Multicultural Interests Minister Dr Tony Buti said the display of Nazi symbols and gestures had been increasing, with most other states already outlawing them.
The reforms will also prohibit the application of a Nazi symbol to public property by way of vandalism or graffiti, or to the property of another person without their consent.
