Queens Park Junior Soccer Club could receive a major boost in its equipment thanks to a $30,000 election commitment from the WA Labor Government.

Under a re-elected Cook Labor Government, the ALP said funding will be given to the junior club to purchase new equipment.

Established in 1931, Queens Park Soccer Club is considered by many as a community institution which has been known to locals for more than 90 years.

Its junior club, based at Coker Park, is one of the largest junior clubs in the southeast metropolitan region and regularly has more than 100 participants at weekly training.

WA Labor candidate for Canning Ron Sao said the Queens Park Junior Soccer Club was one of the best sporting clubs he had seen.

“From the president to the players, they are welcoming, inclusive and committed to being Western Australia’s premier football club,” he said. “They are an organisation our whole community can be proud of. That’s why I am so glad to make this commitment for new equipment. These players deserve the best possible opportunity to excel on and off the field, and I know the new equipment will make a real difference.”

Queens Park Junior Soccer Club President Eve Watts said the new equipment upgrades would provide a much-needed boost for the ever-growing club. “We want to be the best football club in WA, and these funds will help us get there,” she said.
