The Southern Districts Netball Association in Langford launched its No Limits Netball program on October 18.
Around 20 participants took part in the first session of the six-week long program, which aims to bridge the gap for all netballers.
Southern District Netball Association Development Officer Bev Gallagher said the program was an opportunity for participants with an intellectual disability aged 11 and over to engage with netball.
“The participants can meet new friends and play in a safe environment and be part of a team,” she said.
“The program involves games and honing their skills and an introduction to netball.
“It will also involve fun and we will base the program on the skills and needs of the participants.”
Mrs Gallagher said the No Limits program was the first state sporting association run event.
“There have been smaller community based programs all over WA for years with the support of associations and clubs,” she said.
“But, this is the first time that the program has run in the south east metro area.”
No Limits is a free activity and open to boys and girls aged 11 and over.
