Local kids have had a starring role in an upcoming music video filmed at the Champion Centre.

The song ‘No Shame’ was written by Charley ‘Abrynz’ Caruso from Boss Arts Creative, and recorded at Shake Down Studios by three young performers: Alyssa, Mackenzi and Kodie-lee.

The talented trio are also participants in the Aboriginal Youth Circus Program held through the Champion Centre in Armadale, so organisers thought it was be the perfect opportunity to involve everyone in the circus program.

“As we continue to evolve as a society, music videos have a significant influence on popular culture,” they said.

“Bringing the youth together in a fun and positive environment to film a music video has the power to connect people, shape identities and can inspire the children to think about the possibilities for their future.

“Music videos can offer a sense of personal identity, so having three deadly young Aboriginal kids who come from Armadale representing their culture and encouraging others to be proud of who they are, can then empower the children of the community to feel the same.”

In the weeks leading up to the music video Circus WA Trainer and Boss Arts Youth Mentor Krissy Lane, who helped choreograph and direct part of the music video, would play the song ‘No Shame’ at the end of the evening.

The kids loved the song and would come up with ideas for dance moves.

Perth rapper and videographer Cortext then filmed the official footage in November under the guidance of Circus WA trainers and Boss Arts Creative youth mentors.

“We didn’t forget that providing food is a large part of the Aboriginal Youth Circus Program so on the evening of filming, Boss Arts Creative’s Elisa Williams ordered enough pizzas to feed a large group of 50 children and their families,” organisers said.

“It was a fun evening for everyone involved.

“We are very excited about this project and cannot wait for the music video to be released to showcase the deadly kids we have in Armadale.”
