The cenotaph which stands proudly at Armadale’s Memorial Park was refurbished just in time for this year’s ANZAC Day dawn service, which saw about 5000 people attend.

Hosted by the Armadale RSL sub branch, the service was well attended by many young and old, with many noting the increase in the number of children attending to commemorate those who have fought at various wars for our country.

President Lynda Zappelli said much of the feedback about the event was positive however the community did make comment about the navy personnel not marching at this year’s service.

“We would like to thank the community for its support and attendance and would like to invite them to be involved in the RSL through fundraising, activities and events,” she said.

“All money goes towards allowing us to help and support the service and veteran community, as well as first line responders and allied service.”
