Despite soaring temperatures the City of Armadale’s Australia Day celebrations attracted a big crowd to join in the festivities at Minnawarra Park last week.
Revelers enjoyed carnival rides, water fun, a Backyard Bash community cricket match, live music and a fireworks display.
Armadale mayor Henry Zelones said the city was proud to host the celebrations in the iconic park.
“Every year we have more people attending the celebrations, making it one of the city’s largest events of the year,” he said.
As part of the celebrations the City of Armadale also joined hundreds of regions across the nation in welcoming the newest citizens.
A total of 129 people from 25 countries officially joined the Australian family in a special citizenship ceremony conducted in Memorial Park.
Mr Zelones said Australia Day was a particularly momentous occasion for those choosing to become Australian citizens by pledging their commitment to embrace the responsibilities and privileges of Australian citizenship.
