Telecommunications infrastructure was not included in the Forrestdale Business Park at the request of the original landowners, according to Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority chief executive Kieran Kinsella.

The issues of telecommunications in the park came up during a recent visit by Federal Communications Minister Mitch Fifield to meet members of Business Armadale.

Beaver Tree Services managing director and Business Armadale president Paul Harrison said he had spent thousands to get his Cartwright Drive property connected to the internet and landlines.

He said there was no telecommunications infrastructure in the ground while the Crossroads Industrial Estate across Tonkin Highway already had NBN.

Mr Fifield said he would relay the concerns to the NBN Co, which is in charge of the national broadband network rollout.

When asked why there was no telecom infrastructure in the park Mr Kinsella said landowners did not want it.

“The original landowners were consulted throughout the scoping process for Forrestdale Business Park and at their request telecommunications infrastructure was omitted,” he said.

“It is not unusual for telecommunications infrastructure to be excluded from developments of this nature.”
