Byford will be treated to a night of laughter with comedian Peter Rowsthorn at the Byford country club this weekend.
Mr Rowsthorn, best known for his work as Brett Craig in the TV series Kath and Kim, will present his own comedic take on the area while raising money for the Byford primary school end of year six camp.
Year six camp fundraising coordinator Donna Gibsone hopes to raise about $2000 to help fund a five-day trip to Geraldton.
“There are some people in this area who can’t afford the cost of the camp so we’re hoping to raise enough money to fund it,” she said.
“It’s important because camps like this build confidence before the kids go off to high school and it shows them they can be a bit more independent.
“It should be a really good night as well because Peter Rowsthorn has family that is local, so he knows the area and part of his comedy is specific to Byford.”
Country club manager Rob Renton said it would be a great event for the community and a chance to support the school.
Raffles and games will also be held with prizes donated by a number of local businesses.
The event will be held on Saturday from 7pm at 845 South Western Highway, Byford.
Tickets are $35 each and selling fast.
