Armadale’s Memorial Park was filled to the brim last Saturday with food trucks serving up cuisines from countries all over the world.
The Hawkers Markets officially launched on November 17, with one more event scheduled for this Saturday night.
The smoke and alcohol-free event featured plenty for the young and young-at-heart including henna body art, face painting and hula hoop activities as well as performances by Italian duo Vanessa and Valerio, Japanese drumming and indigenous six-piece outfit The Struggling Kings.
The November 24 event will include performances from the traditional Yaolin Lion Dance and the Gerard Maunick Band.
City of Armadale mayor Henry Zelones said the popular markets, which have been running for the past three years were a great night out for people of all ages.
“Each year the event continues to grow and we know that the locals and the business community enjoy it as well,” he said.
“With the growing population in Armadale, residents are taking up the opportunity to take advantage of free entertainment and the selection of food trucks.”
This Saturday’s markets will be held from 5pm to 8.30pm at Memorial Park.
