Dublin-born artist Sarah Grange’s striking oil painting Marie has scooped the Bendigo Bank Canning Vale People’s Choice Award at the City of Gosnells 2024 Community Art Exhibition and Awards.

Ms Grange received $500 for her eye-catching piece, which received the most votes from visitors to the exhibition.

Gosnells mayor Terresa Lynes joined Bendigo Bank Canning Vale branch manager Michelle Lennox and board director Efthalia Samaras to congratulate Ms Grange.

Ms Grange was also presented with a framed People’s Choice Award winner certificate.

“It is always rewarding to see an artist get community recognition for their work and Sarah’s stunning oil painting is no exception,” Ms Lynes said.

A propmaker by trade, Ms Grange said she developed a passion for art at a young age and has been painting for “as long as I can remember”.

She was inspired to paint Marie to capture the essence of a shy 21-year-old woman who “doesn’t see her own beauty”.
