A wonderland of stage performers, festive singers, roving entertainers, craft activities and more entertained record-breaking crowds at the City of Gosnells Jingle All the Way celebration last Saturday night, along with the season’s most popular celebrity – Santa.
About 15,000 people – an event record – joined in the merriment at the Civic Centre Gardens and Centennial Pioneer Park in Gosnells.
Visitors were also greeted with a frosty reception at the event’s Snow Garden, complete with real snow to play in and an avalanche slide.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said the City’s community events were rapidly growing in popularity.
“Jingle All the Way is a magical way to celebrate Christmas with family and friends and it is fast becoming a tradition for many local families, as shown by our biggest-ever turnout,” she said.
“I want to thank everyone who came along and joined in the great community and Christmas spirit we have here in the City of Gosnells.”
The huge turn-out at Jingle All the Way follows record attendance at the City of Gosnells Fusion Food and Culture Festival, held in November, which attracted more than 40,000 people over two nights.
Winners of the Safe City Christmas Lights Competition were residents in Tahoe Close, Thornlie, once again outshining their competitors.
Murray Rayner from Tahoe Close, Thornlie won the $500 Best Decorated Residence prize for his Australian animal-themed decorations and Tahoe Close won the $1,000 Best Decorated Street prize.
