Examiner editor Robyn Molloy was a finalist in the WA Media Awards on Saturday night for her new series of feature stories called ‘on the front line’ in the Suburban – best three stories or features category.

Her features took a candid look at emergency services workers including a deaf firefighter from Bedfordale, a Canning Vale policeman who had a previous career as a professional dancer and what it is like to be a nurse in the intensive care unit at Armadale Kelmscott memorial hospital.

This year’s awards attracted more than 270 entries with the judges commenting they were greatly impressed by the high quality of the submissions.
Lloyd Gorman from POST Newspaper won the suburban category for his entry ‘Subiaco scandals’.

The Examiner entries can be found at www.yourlocalexaminer.com.au/features/ and include the stories: From dancing to the beat, A calling he can’t hear and ‘We look after the sickest of the sick’.
