A small group of Maddington residents will be shaving off or colouring their hair for an extremely noble and potentially life-saving cause, later this week.

Team Rookie Cookies – led by co-captains Zoe and Narda Crane – will host a World’s Greatest Shave event at Eastside Concrete, in Midvale, on March 12.

The event will include a sausage sizzle and a couple of raffles, with all funds going to the Leukaemia Foundation.

“We have been meaning to do it (WGS) for a number of years, but we’ve just never had the time to do it before,” Zoe and Narda said.

“It’s a cause that is close to our hearts…we’ve known people who have been diagnosed with or have passed away from blood cancer.

“It really means a lot to us…we all wanted to make a contribution to help the cause.”

The group held a special sausage sizzle at Bunnings Warehouse, Maddington on February 27, which saw them raise more than $1200.

Team Rookie Cookies would like to thank Eastside Concrete and the local community for their overwhelming support over the past few weeks.

With events held across Australia, the WGS initiative raises hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for the Leukaemia Foundation.

The funds all go towards supporting the families of seriously ill children battling blood cancer.
