Last week teachers at Kelmscott High School were honoured for the special role they play in shaping the minds and characters of generations of young locals.
“The job has gotten a lot harder over the past few years, and you’re all doing a fantastic job. So, hats off to you,” Principal Mark Jeffery said.
Members from Rotary Armadale lovingly prepared a morning tea banquet for over 100 hungry staff members last Thursday to coincide with World Teachers’ Day.
“A few of us were teachers once, so we know what it’s like,” Gail Sampson said. “And we know how much teachers appreciate a free lunch.”
“We thought we’d put this on to sort of pat them on the back and say ‘job well done’,” Graham Sampson said.
The pair explained that supporting education and nurturing children are two key pillars of Rotary’s mission, and teachers are in the vanguard of that cause.
They also said that Rotary Armadale are currently dedicating themselves to extending their reach and impact in the local community. While this is the inaugural morning tea for teachers the club has hosted, they hope to show their gratitude to other school faculties in future.
