The City of Canning has announced the successful recipients of its latest round of community funding, approving 29 grant applications worth a combined $110,349.42 as part of its 2024/25 Community Grants Program.
This marks the second and final round of community grants for the financial year, following the allocation of $100,395.25 across 35 projects in the first round, which closed in August 2024. Altogether, the City has awarded more than $200,000 this financial year to support grassroots initiatives across the community.
Mayor Patrick Hall said the City is committed to backing a wide range of community efforts.
“The City’s approach to community grants is to support as many applications as possible within the available budget,” he said. “The 29 successful applicants in our second round of grants will receive partial or full funding towards not-for-profit community-based initiatives, helping to create a welcoming and thriving City by delivering important activities and services within the City of Canning.”
Among the latest recipients are the Canning Districts RSL Sub Branch, which will receive support for ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day events as well as a Veterans Dinner; the Youth Disability Advocacy Network, which secured funding for its For US, By US: Young People Exploring Disability program; and the Willetton Baseball Club, which will purchase a new pitching machine with its grant.
The approved grants fall under key categories such as Cultural and Community Events, Welcoming and Thriving Projects and Programs, Disability Access and Inclusion, Youth Grants, Aboriginal Engagement and Reconciliation, and Equipment Grants.
In addition, the City offers year-round funding through three other categories—Small Grants, Volunteer Grants, and Young People Fly High Grants—with a combined annual budget of $60,000.
