Vanilla, red velvet and cookies and cream cupcakes were flying out the door at a special fundraiser in Piara Waters last week which was hosted by 10-year-old Sienna Leask.
The youngster decided to set up the roadside fundraiser on Thursday and Friday to sell cans of drink and her homemade cupcakes to raise money for those affected by the bushfires interstate.
Sienna originally hoped to raise a total of $75 but by the end of Friday afternoon she amassed that total with ease.
She collected a whopping $414 for the New South Wales Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service and NSW Rural Fire Services.
Sienna’s mother Christina Brekalo-Leask said she had a ‘proud Mummy moment’ when Sienna asked her if she could host the fundraiser.
“She was in her room on her iPad and she came out and said ‘Mum have you seen the fires, it is so sad and I want to do something to make money’,” she said.
“A few people came past and a lot of them didn’t even want their change.
“Two guys pulled up and they handed over $20 without even getting anything and she was stoked with that.”
Sienna said it was the first time she had done anything like this and she was proud of her efforts.
