The Camillo action group, frangipani fans of Perth and succulent and cacti WA will hold a plant sale at Westfield Park primary school on December 5 to raise money for the Camillo community garden.

There will be more than 30 bays selling everything from herbs, succulent bowls and frangipani seedlings to large grafted frangipani and cacti as well as bric a brac and a sausage sizzle.

Action group committee member Cathy North said all funds would go towards the Camillo community garden’s goal to buy the foundations for the rain water tank.

She said the garden was almost ready to become a hub and encouraged people to look at it while at the plant sale.

“The community garden continues to work towards opening to the wider community in the near future to become a place where locals can share a laugh, get to know their neighbours and share in a bountiful harvest,” she said.

After singing the initial agreement with the school for the land in September 2014 Ms North said it had been a slow labour of love since then.

“Having to clear and fence the lot, we have since worked on storage, garden beds and signage,” she said.

“Our last hurdle to opening is getting the recently bought water tank in place.”
Gates open to buyers from 9am to 3pm for a gold coin donation. A few stalls are available.
