City of Armadale councillors will consider a reduction in its Specified Area Rate charge Harrisdale and Piara Waters residents receive in addition to their rates bill following public backlash to proposed rate rises.
The reduction would equate to about $95 for the average residence.
Residents angry at the city’s proposed three per cent rate increase have threatened to secede from the city into lower rating surrounding councils like Canning and Cockburn.
At a city strategy meeting last week councillors suggested reducing the SAR Harrisdale and Piara Waters residents pay.
Currently it adds more than $200 on some residents’ bills.
The SAR is used to maintain and enhance public amenities in newer estates.
Councillors will consider the item at their July 11 council meeting.
