Students show they care after donating to the homeless

Students and teachers at Rostrata Primary School collected 1029 donations of socks, gloves, scarves and beanies to give to homeless people this winter.

This term Year 5 teacher Charles Wickham and pre-primary teacher Patricia Lee ran the winter warmer drive across the whole school.

The donations were given to Global Mission United which distributed them to the homeless over the weekend, with plenty of items left spare to replenish damaged goods.

The idea for the drive came in 2022 when Kezia Soon, a student of Mr Wickham’s, brought the idea to him in an effort to help those experiencing homelessness.

The school’s ethos is embodied in its school motto of C.A.R.E – Co-operation, Achievement, Respect and Endeavour.
