Students at Salvado Catholic College have officially got the creative edge.
Two teams from the Byford school participated in this year’s State Finals for the Creative Edge Problem Solving Challenge at Curtin University over the weekend.
The competition challenges teams of up to eight students to come up with their most creative solution to a problem in one of three fields: Literature and Communication; Science and Engineering; Society and Environment.
Teams were also given an “Impromptu Creativity Challenge” on the day of the final.
After an intense day of competition, both the Year 7 and Year 9 team from Salvado came out winners.
“We are incredibly proud to announce that both teams have triumphed in the Creative Edge competition,” the school announced on Monday.
“Their hard work, creativity, and dedication have truly paid off.
“Each team showcased exceptional talent and innovation, setting a high standard for future participants.”
The Year 7 team, comprising Jasmine Mosley-Smith, Makala Bruton, Aoibhe McCann, Alyssa Maisey, Adele Green, Eila Woods and Lilah Miles, won the ‘Creativity Award’ for the highest score out of all 70 finalist teams for their Impromptu challenge.
While the Year 9 team, comprising Sienna Young, Sacha Chidoko, Xavia Mills, Shylee King, Makayla King and Cassandra Dela Rosa-Isaac, won their division in the State Final for the Literature and Communication discipline, beating last year’s champions.
“This is a fabulous achievement and win for both teams. Congratulations again to the amazing teams and their mentors,” the school said.
