Faces caked with face paint and many creative costumes were on show at Piara Waters Primary School’s Book Week parade last Thursday.
This year’s theme was ‘reading is my super power’ which prompted many students to come dressed as their favourite superhero, while others came dressed as fictional characters from their preferred book.
Principal Tracey Renton said opportunities like Book Week allowed students to celebrate their learning and for staff to inspire a love of reading.
“The students enjoyed walking around in the parade showing their parents, staff and other students their creative costumes,” she said.
“They also enjoyed the conversations with others as they guessed who the characters were, which book they came from and what their superpower was.”
Mrs Renton said students participated in a number of activities including a scavenger hunt for QR codes, an incursion with author Julia Lawrinson and other activities.
