John Wollaston Anglican Community School cleaned up at the City of Armadale’s Outside the Frame Art Awards.
More than 70 young artists from 20 schools across Perth once again impressed judges with the level of talent and creativity exhibited.
John Wollaston students Sarah D’Ermilio and Evie Dodge won the painting award and local artist award respectively.
The school also took out the school with the best collective works award.
Armadale mayor Henry Zelones said since 1999 the city had held Outside the Frame to provide a professionally curated exhibition displaying the artistic talents of emerging high school artists.
“During the past 17 years the buzz surrounding Outside the Frame has grown into a powerful voice for young people – now providing one of Perth’s most thought provoking art exhibitions for emerging young artists,” he said.
“Once again the curator and judges were impressed with the high quality of works as well as the great amount of detail used,” he said.
“It is fantastic to see young people from all over Perth descend onto Armadale to display their works.
“This exhibition is a cultural asset for our community and fosters the young talent we have in our region.”
John Wollaston principal Anne Ford was delighted at the results.
“I am thrilled about the results of these two talented students at the Outside the Frame exhibition,” she said.
“In addition it was wonderful for the school to win the best collective works award.
“These results are a credit to the hard work by staff and students in the visual art department.”
The exhibition was held at the Armadale District Hall and ran until August 21.
