Curtin University teachers were nominated and rewarded for excellence in teaching by the Curtin Student Guild.

The Guild’s Excellence in Teaching Awards was in its 16th year and recognised top Curtin staff members who were passionate about their area of study and inspired students to achieve.

The top honour, Outstanding Achievement in Teaching award, was presented to Business School senior lecturer and postgraduate coordinator Dr Isaac Cheah.

Awards were also won by Dr Christina Lee, Dr Abhijeet Singh, sessional lecturer Anne D’Arcy-Warmington, Dr Ajanthy Arulpragasam, Dr Tomayess Issa and Professor Jeff Hughes.

Curtin University Guild President Liam O’Neil said the awards were especially important because students nominated them.

“Great teachers can change the lives of their students and these awards are a thank you to those extraordinary individuals at Curtin who have inspired their students to realise their full potential,” he said.

“All our award winners have demonstrated excellence in classroom communication, engaged and promoted student participation with passion and enthusiasm.”

Winners received $1000 to spend on improving the learning experience for their children.
