Telstra has officially launched its fibre to the node services on the NBN for more than 7000 homes and businesses in Cannington, Wilson, Langford and Beckenham.

At a launch event at the Cannington exchange late last month Telstra area general manager Boyd Brown said it was the beginning of a new era for locals.

“As the NBN rolls out across Cannington and surrounds a world of new opportunities open up with office-like internet speeds at home, endless entertainment options and countless ways to connect with friends and loved ones,” he said.

“With a third of the local population school aged, the reliable NBN connection and speeds will give students a boost, helping them access resources online and attend lectures remotely, without having to worry about buffering and download delays.”

Langford resident Zora Elliss said she was extremely excited to connect to the NBN.

“It’s going to be really helpful for my TAFE work,” she said.

Telstra will be hosting classes with local seniors groups over the next few months to teach them about email, social media and staying safe online.
