Voters emphatically rejected all past councillors and mayor from the dismissed Canning council, who ran in Canning council election on Saturday.
Four former councillors including Graham Barry, Stephen Boylen, Robert Morgan and Megan O’Donnell and former mayor Joe Delle Donne tried to get back onto the lastest council but were beaten by newcomers.
With 56 nominations in total for ward and mayoral candidates the votes were diluted compared with 2011 and 2009 elections.
In 2009 Mr Delle Donne received 8326 votes, which saw him elected as mayor.
This year he only received 948 votes, losing out to Riverton, Rossmoyne and Shelley residents association president Paul Ng.
Mr Ng received 3376 votes or 21.77 per cent.
Former Mason ward councillors Mr Barry and Mr Boylen received 1770 and 1960 votes in the 2011 election respectively to see them elected.
This year Mr Barry came in third place with 496 votes but was beaten by Jesse Jacobs and Ayse Martli while Mr Boylen came in fourth place with 487 votes.
In 2009 former Beeliar ward councillor Mr Morgan claimed his seat with 2522 votes against opponent Mr Boylen but this year he only received 489 votes for his tilt at a Bannister ward seat against 11 opponents.
Former Nicholson ward councillor Ms O’Donnell took almost 45 per cent of the vote in the 2011 election when there were 1500 votes but only received 13 per cent of this year’s 4700 votes.
