A total of 29 young athletes from Burt have been given a helping hand to achieve their sporting dreams through the latest round of Local Sporting Champions grants.
The Local Sporting Champions program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-18 participating in state, national or international championships.

Successful applicants receive between $500-$750 towards the cost of attending their championships.
The latest round of winners were officially recognised last Thursday by Member for Burt Matt Keogh at the Piara Waters pavilion.
“Our community has some incredible and diverse sporting talent that deserves to be recognised,” Mr Keogh said.
“When so much news can be negative, it is important to celebrate the success of our local athletes.

“These Local Sporting Champions represent our community across the country and even overseas.
“As the Olympics commence, it is great to see young members of our community being supported to one day reach their own Olympic dream.
“Congratulations to these local legends, I can’t wait to see what they achieve next.”

The next round of the program, the Round 1 2024-25 grants, are currently open and close on July 31, 2024.
